The Subaru Crosstrek, previously known in Australia as the XV, is the Japanese carmaker's small SUV.
The first Subaru to wear the XV badge was an Impreza variant – badged, of course, Impreza XV – before the Subaru XV became a model in its own right, although still sharing its underpinnings and much of its styling with the Impreza hatch.
First introduced in 2012 to address Subaru’s absence in the small SUV market, the second-generation XV was launched in 2017.
In 2020, the XV became Subaru’s first electrified model with a mild-hybrid variant joining the 2.0-litre petrol version.
All versions have a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and Subaru’s proprietary all-wheel drive system.
In 2023, the new-generation model adopted the Crosstrek badge for Australia, bringing it in line with the naming it already used overseas.
The Subaru Crosstrek sits in the busy small-SUV segment, alongside popular models such as the Ford Puma, Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, Toyota C-HR, and Volkswagen T-Roc.
