A market favourite

The Hyundai i30 is the hatch and sedan entry point to the Hyundai line-up. Unusually for the segment, the two body styles are distinctly separate cars, built on different platforms.

The hatch first debuted back in 2017, so is in the latter phase of its lifespan, while the sedan, as well as being larger, is a far more recent design.

About the i30

The Hyundai i30 is the hatch and sedan entry point to the Hyundai line-up.

Unusually for the segment, the two body styles are distinctly separate cars, built on different platforms.

The hatch first debuted back in 2017, so is in the latter phase of its lifespan, while the sedan, as well as being larger, is a far more recent design.

Both models offer a choice of three petrol engines variously teamed with four transmission, all driving the front wheels.

An affordable entry point from the mid-$20,000 zone right through to high-performance N models costing more than $50,000 mean there really is an i30 variant for every buyer.

N-Line denotes a more sporting flavour, bringing the addition of a body styling package, racier trim inside, and power from a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine mated to the choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

For buyers seeking the ultimate i30, the N version is offered in three body styles – hatch, fastback and sedan – with power provided by a 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre turbo four giving 0-100km/h performance comfortably under six seconds.
