About the Mazda MX-5
The Mazda MX-5 is an iconic two-door sports car that has been seen as a legendary driver’s car since it was first revealed in 1989.
Since then it has gone on to become the best-selling two-door sports convertible in the world.
The current, fourth-generation ND MX-5 was launched in 2015 and won the 2016 Wheels Car of the Year award in comprehensive fashion
In Australia, all Mazda MX-5 variants are now offered with a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder, with both folding soft- and hard-top body styles available. An initial, less powerful 1.5L engine was dropped at the start of 2022.
There are extremely limited direct rivals for the MX-5, though if comparing affordable sports cars there are the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR86 twins
